Syllabus - Introduction to English Law
This course is designed to provide students with a general understanding of English law and its legal system. It will cover a wide range of topics under English law.

Introduction to English Law

In weeks one and two the discussion will be an overview of the English legal system, including some basic ideas on what is law and then providing students with a basic understanding on legal terminology and the English framework. 
The following weeks will provide students with a more in depth look at the wide ranging legal systems and topics including legislation and the law making process, human rights and fundamental freedoms, the interpretation of statutes, the doctrine of judicial precedent, the criminal court process, the civil process, tribunals and alternative dispute resolution, the jury, the judiciary, lawyers and access to justice.

Introduction to English Law

This course assumes that students have little or no background experience or knowledge of English Law. All class materials and instruction are in English.
The grade for the course is based on a paper, a presentation and class performance/attendance.
